India dominated the group stage, claiming the top position with an impeccable record, winning all matches to gather 18 points. Despite a tense semi-final against New Zealand, where India’s strong batting performance was crucial, Mohammed Shami’s pivotal wickets eased the pressure, securing a 70-run win in Mumbai.
In the parallel semi-final, Australia also triumphed over South Africa by three wickets in Kolkata. If India clinches the title, it would mark their second World Cup victory at home in 12 years, and a decade since their last ICC Trophy.
