Following India’s impressive victory over England, skipper Rohit Sharma, along with teammates Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav, were honored with fielding medals by fielding coach T. Dilip.

In a spectacular display of cricket, Team India secured a commanding 4-1 series victory over England, ending in a resounding win by an innings and 64 runs in the fifth Test at Dharamshala. Throughout the five-match series, India exhibited exceptional performance across all facets of the game, showcasing strength in batting, bowling, and notably, fielding.

Notably, the team has a dressing room tradition that underscores the significance of on-field efforts by awarding medals after fixtures.

Following the win over England, fielding coach T. Dilip introduced a new aspect to the team tradition, presenting two fielding medals this time.

“Terrific effort guys. The entire series we showcased extraordinary commitment on the field. The energy, perseverance and sheer willpower was displayed by each and every one was magnificent,” Dilip said.

For the first time, the Impact Fielder Award was shared between Rohit and Gill, highlighting their exceptional catches. Finally, a new award for relentless effort was introduced, emphasizing the significance of contributions beyond the limelight. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah presented the medals to the deserving players.

“On that note, the first medal, and this time it was a tough choice between two people, who took equally good catches. So for the first time ever we are sharing the award and the impact fielder award goes to Rohit and Gill,” Dilip announced.

“And lastly, the new award, which is the relentless effort award. And this is a great opportunity for everyone who feel that they are not in the hotspots, but can still make a difference. This award goes to the person who has been running around from fine leg to fine leg and helping our team with the strategy, Kuldeep Yadav,” he added.

India’s series win solidified their lead in the ICC World Test Championships for the 2023-2025 cycle, cementing their position at the top of the rankings.
