Daniel Jarvis, the infamous English prankster known as Jarvo, set out to disrupt the 5th match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The game between India and Australia, that took place October 8, witnessed Jarvo’s intrusion before India’s opening for the same. Sporting an Indian Jersey with the number 69, Jarvo dashed onto the field right after the conclusion of both teams’ national anthems. Shortly after, security personnel escorted him out of the stadium. In a video uploaded on social media by @allaboutcric_, former captain Virat Kohli can be seen expressing his disapproval of Jarvis’s act as he’s being escorted out the field.
“The individual in question has been banned from attending any more games at the event, and the matter is now in the hands of Indian authorities,” an ICC spokesperson said to PTI.
Jarvis was initially thwarted by right-arm fast bowler Mohammed Siraj as he’d entered the field. Upon refusing to heed to Siraj, the former ran into KL Rahul, who was seemingly incensed by the prank. In a video uploaded by the prankster on social media, the Indian vice-captain can be seen approaching him in order to berate him by saying, “It’s not for you, that place is for you (pointing towards the crowd) Go F**k off, stop coming everywhere.”
The Englishman initially became known for these antics in 2021, during India’s tour of England, where he disrupted Test matches. In the second Test match, he wore an Indian jersey and strolled casually alongside the visiting players on the cricket pitch. Jarvo considers himself a comedian, prankster and filmmaker and has been garnering enormous attention on platforms like YouTube and X by performing such escapades. The incident on October 8 marks the third time Jarvo’s been able to breach security and approach Indian players during international matches.
