Shami initially missed the first four matches of the World Cup but got his chance due to Hardik Pandya’s injury. Making a strong comeback, he grabbed five wickets against New Zealand. From there, Shami continued his remarkable run, eventually clinching 24 wickets in the tournament, surpassing even Jasprit Bumrah.
The pacer was selected for the South Africa tour but missed it due to an ankle injury. Currently sidelined, he aims for a strong return in the Test series against England starting on January 25 in Hyderabad, remaining optimistic despite his ongoing recovery from the injury.
