Mohammed Shami firmly dismissed Hasan Raza’s accusation of India using distinct balls in the World Cup for an edge. Expressing disbelief, Shami found it astonishing that a seasoned ex-player would make baseless claims.
Raza alleged on a Pakistani TV show that the ICC provided specialized balls to India, favoring their performance.

In an interview with Puma, Shami recounted hearing conspiracy theories while not playing. Stepping in for an injured Hardik Pandya, he excelled with a notable five-wicket haul against New Zealand in Dharamsala. Continuing his exceptional form, Shami secured impressive four and five-wicket hauls in subsequent matches. He expressed bewilderment at certain Pakistani cricketers’ struggle to accept these performances.

“Some ex-Pakistani players believe they’re superior, struggling to accept India’s success and exceptional players. To me, true performers work hard and deliver when it counts. When some resort to conspiracy theories about ball colors and sources, claiming ICC favors us with different balls, it’s bewildering. Bhai Sudhar jao yaar (Please mend your ways),” said Shami.
Earlier, Wasim Akram also criticized Raza’s comments and urged them not to mock their team globally. Shami highlighted Akram’s explanation on ball selection, yet ex-Pakistani cricketers persisted with conspiracy theories, becoming ridiculed.

Shami emphasized Akram’s clarification about the ball’s selection process but lamented the perpetuation of such theories. He expressed understanding if such claims were made by fans or non-cricketers but found it laughable when former players propagated baseless allegations, potentially leading to global derision.
