In the onging IPL 2024 match between CSK and Gujarat Titans at Chepauk, GT batter Vijay Shankar’s innings was brought to an end as he was caught behind by MS Dhoni off Daryl Mitchell’s delivery. The 42-year-olds outstanding catch behind the stumps sent the crowd into a frenzy, with Chepauk echoing with cheers.

The brilliant catch unfolded in the 8th over, when Mitchell’s delivery moved away from off, causing Shankar to edge it thickly while attempting a drive. Dhoni’s full-stretch dive to his right ensured a low grab, securing Shankar’s dismissal. With this wicket, Gujarat Titans have lost their third batter.

Earlier, the Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first against the Chennai Super Kings. Youngster Rachin Ravindra started positively, scoring boundaries in the powerplay. However, his aggressive approach led to a fine stumping by Wriddhiman Saha, providing the Titans their first breakthrough.

Despite Ajinkya Rahane’s struggles, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad kept the scoreboard ticking. Rahane fell to spinner R Sai Kishore, stumped again by Saha. Gaikwad, nearing the 40s, was also caught behind off Spencer Johnson’s delivery.

Shivam Dube, though, swiftly gained momentum for Chennai with consecutive sixes. He accelerated, reaching his fifty quickly before falling to Rashid Khan in the death overs. Sameer Rizvi made a notable debut, striking two maximums, but was dismissed by Mohit Sharma. CSK concluded with a challenging target of 207 runs after the first innings.
