In a heartwarming moment before the India vs. Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s, Virat Kohli was captured playing with an adorable puppy during Team India’s practice session in Colombo.

Virat Kohli’s well-known love for dogs is no secret and you can easily spot his furry pals all over his social media accounts, with tons of photos and videos showcasing their playful moments.

Just recently, during a practice session at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium on Friday, September 8, the former captain of the Indian cricket team shared a heartwarming encounter with an adorable puppy. A recent snapshot of him cuddling a puppy during practice once again put the spotlight on his affection for these furry friends.

In a viral video making the rounds on social media, Kohli can be seen giving the puppy, friendly pats and even playing a quick game of football as the pup enthusiastically chased after the ball.

Kohli, honored as PETA India’s Person of the Year in 2019 for his animal advocacy, took his commitment further in 2021 by inaugurating two animal shelters in Mumbai. One, located in Malad, serves as a temporary refuge for injured dogs and cats, offering essential medical care. The second shelter, situated in Boisar, provides a permanent home for animals with disabilities and chronic illnesses in old age.

In the forthcoming Asia Cup 2023’s Super-4 stage in Colombo on Sunday, September 10, Kohli will be back in action, gearing up for a high-stakes clash against arch-rivals Pakistan. Kohli’s recent performance was a disappointment, as he was dismissed for just four runs off seven balls, falling victim to left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi in a rain-affected match in Pallekele on September 2.

Nevertheless, Kohli boasts an impressive track record against Pakistan, accumulating over 500 runs in 14 ODIs, including two centuries, with his highest score being 183 in the Asia Cup.

He now sets his sights on redemption, needing 98 runs to surpass cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record as the fastest to reach 13,000 runs in ODIs, a milestone Tendulkar achieved in 321 innings.
