During Mumbai Indian’s inaugural home game of IPL 2024 against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium, a fan breached security, rushing onto the pitch to embrace Rohit Sharma, surprising the former MI captain. Rohit was stationed at the slip cordon and was startled by the sudden intrusion but proceeded as the fan hugged him and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. Security officials promptly intervened, escorting the fan out of the field amidst the ongoing game.

This incident follows a similar occurrence just days prior, where a fan managed to breach security and approached Virat Kohli during an IPL 2024 match between Bengaluru and Punjab at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

On the match front, Mumbai Indian’s batting woes continued as they struggled to post a mere 125 runs after being put into bat first by Royals skipper Sanju Samson.
