Ravindra Jadeja lauded teammate Ravichandran Ashwin for reaching the 100th Test and 500th Test wicket milestones in a congratulatory video message.
Ravindra Jadeja, India’s star all-rounder and Ravichandran Ashwin’s long-time bowling partner, heaped praise on the off-spinner for reaching two significant milestones in his career. Ashwin achieved both feats during the recently concluded five-match Test series against England, playing his 100th Test match and taking his 500th Test wicket.
The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) celebrated Ashwin’s incredible achievements with a felicitation ceremony in Chennai. While unable to attend in person, Jadeja sent a heartfelt video message congratulating his teammate. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) shared the message on their social media channels. The video message saw Jadeja saying, “Hi, Ash Anna, congratulations on your 100th Test match and 500 Test wickets. I am very, very happy for you. Your contribution to Indian cricket has been amazing. I hope you continue to take a lot of wickets and also keep sharing your mastermind with me so that I can also take a few wickets and become a great legend like you. We also share the same name as well. I am Ravi Indran, and you’re Ravi Chandran.”
Ashwin and Jadeja cemented their place in history by becoming India’s most successful Test bowling pair. They surpassed the legendary duo of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh, achieving this feat during the first Test against England in Hyderabad. The pair has picked up a combined total of 502 wickets by then.
Ashwin emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the series, which India convincingly won 4-1. His impressive performance also saw him rise to the number one spot in the latest ICC Test Rankings after claiming nine wickets in the final Test at Dharamsala.
