A lighthearted moment emerged when Rohit Sharma hilariously advised Kuldeep Yadav to show patience with the ball against Bangladeshi batters.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was caught on the stump mic offering hilarious advice to Kuldeep Yadav during their T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match against Bangladesh on Saturday.
The incident occurred at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, while India was defending their total in the second innings. As a new Bangladeshi batter arrived at the crease, Rohit was heard mockingly urging his bowlers to show patience with the ball.
“Kya yaar khelne de na yaar, abhi abhi aaya hai aada maarne de na. Ek out hua hai aada maarne se.” Let him play; he’s just come to the field; let him hit here and there. One of them just got out, trying to hit here and there,” said Rohit, caught on the stump mic. Watch the video below:
Speaking of the match, India emerged victorious in the match by 50 runs, solidifying their lead in Group 1 with four points from two matches played. Their win against Bangladesh follows a successful opening match against Afghanistan, kicking off their Super 8 campaign on a high note.
With one more group stage match remaining, India is well-positioned to secure a semi-final berth. Their next challenge comes against Australia on Monday, June 24, at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia.
A victory against the Australians would not only confirm India’s place in the final four but also potentially see them finish atop the Group 1 points table. This encounter holds extra significance as India and Australia met in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, with Australia clinching the trophy.
