Rohit Sharma wittily teased Dinesh Karthik by commenting on his T20 World Cup chances during the MI vs RCB match on April 11th.
During the IPL clash between the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a lighthearted moment emerged between Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik.
In the match, Karthik, known for his explosive batting, used the unorthodox reverse scoop shot to a great extent, smashing four boundaries against Akash Madhwal in the 19th over. Karthik’s onslaught caught the eye of Rohit Sharma, who was then seen having a playful conversation with Karthik.
The stump mic picked up Rohit’s comment, where he jokingly teased Karthik about pushing for a spot in the upcoming T20 World Cup, “Shabash DK! World Cup mein selection ke liye push karna hai isko. Dimagh mein chal raha hai iske World Cup! (Well done, DK! He’s pushing for a T20 World Cup spot. His mind is occupied with the World Cup.)” Watch the video below:
Notably, Dinesh Karthik fixed his spot in the last T20 World Cup in Australia with his fiery performance in the IPL. However, despite his current form, this IPL, reportedly being his last, makes another World Cup appearance unlikely. Significantly, at 38 (39 during the World Cup), he would face stiff competition from younger wicketkeepers like Pant and Kishan for a spot in the squad.

Speaking of the match, while Karthik’s performance was a highlight for RCB, it was not enough to secure victory. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav pulled the chase for the Mumbai Indians with blazing knocks, taking down RCB’s 197-run target in just 15.3 overs.
Consequently, RCB sits in the ninth position on the IPL points table, while MI pushed itself to the seventh position.
