Rohit led India to the semifinals of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, where they lost to eventual champions England. Since winning the 2013 Champions Trophy, India hasn’t secured an ICC trophy, coming close during the 2023 ODI World Cup but falling short against Australia in the final.
Despite his absence from T20Is post-2022, Rohit returned for a series against Afghanistan, where he smashed his record fifth T20I century in the final match, helping India clinch the series 3-0.
In the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup, India is placed in Group A alongside Ireland, Pakistan, the United States, and Canada, with their first match scheduled against Ireland in New York on June 5.
