Though Rishabh Pant did not have the best night against KKR on April 3rd, Shah Rukh Khan came in to embrace the DC skipper and motivate him for the rest of the journey.
Despite the Kolkata Knight Riders’ dominant display in Vizag and crushing the Delhi Capitals by 106 runs, a heartwarming moment emerged amidst the despair in the Delhi camp. Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant found solace in an unexpected encounter as KKR’s co-owner, Shah Rukh Khan, had a warm exchange with him.
Shah Rukh Khan shared a warm embrace with Pant and kissed him on the forehead in a gesture that captured the hearts of cricket fans. The emotional reunion was filmed, showcasing an extended conversation between the two. Watch the video below:
Pant was visibly moved by the encounter. As SRK approached, the southpaw who was sitting on the field stood up to greet Khan, but the Bollywood actor urged him to remain seated, acknowledging Pant’s perseverance during his recovery.
The heartwarming moment was not the only interaction for Khan. He spent over 15 minutes on the field, interacting with players from both teams. This included a friendly chat with his team’s mentor, Gautam Gambhir, head coach Chandrakant Pandit, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav, a former KKR player. Khan also offered encouraging words to young pacer Khaleel Ahmed of the Delhi Capitals. Later, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer also joined the conversation.
On the field, KKR dominated the match, posting the second-highest total in IPL history (272 runs) and restricting Delhi to 166 runs. The victory made KKR move smoothly to the top of the IPL points table with an impressive net run rate of +2.518.
Though Pant failed to lead his team to victory, he continued his impressive batting form with a quickfire 55 runs off just 25 balls, including 5 sixes and 4 boundaries.
While Pant’s back-to-back half-centuries are certainly a positive sign for the batter, they have not translated into wins for DC. The team has only managed one victory in four matches and finds itself slumping in ninth place on the points table.
