During the ongoing fourth test match between India and England at Ranchi, Sarfaraz Khan engaged in funny banter with Shoaib Bashir in Hindi, which made rounds on the internet.
Sarfaraz Khan, known for his prolific run-scoring in Indian domestic cricket and a notable presence in the India vs. England test match series, was engaged in a playful banter with Shoaib Bashir when he passed a comment in Hindi. Sarfaraz was not expecting Bashir, who was batting, to reply. However, the 20-year-old off-spinner from England surprised him by responding in Hindi.
During the second day of the fourth Test, as Shoaib Bashir came in to bat following the dismissal of Ollie Robinson, Sarfaraz Ahmed, positioned at a silly point, engaged in some fun verbal volleys.
Sarfaraz was heard saying, “Arre yar, isse toh pata hai kaisa khelna hai. Isko toh Hindi nahi aati hai, badhiya chalo” (He knows how to play but he does not understand Hindi). Bashir, who was possibly familiar with Hindi because of his Pakistani descent replied, “Thodi thodi aati hai Hindi” (I understand a little bit of Hindi).
The video clip of the exchange has been widely shared on social media, further amplifying the engagement around the series.

On the match front, England decided to bat first, and they bagged a total of 353 runs. Bashir found himself outmatched by Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling prowess, as the latter claimed a couple of wickets in the same over. This provided some respite after a 102-run partnership between Robinson and Joe Root.
Eventually, Robinson, Bashir, and James Anderson fell to Jadeja, earning him a four-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Root remained unbeaten on 122 runs, securing his 31st Test century.
However, with the series being inclined towards India, the fourth test might be a potential series decider.
