Rohit Sharma attempted a big shot off Glenn Maxwell but ended up with a top edge and Travis Head made an outstanding diving catch at cover-point, dismissing Rohit.
In the ongoing World Cup final between India and Australia at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, a crucial moment unfolded in the 10th over. Glenn Maxwell bowled to Rohit Sharma, who attempted a big shot down the ground. However, he mistimed it, sending a skied top edge toward the cover point.
Travis Head exhibited brilliance, sprinting backward, and diving full-length to catch the ball mid-air. Despite the impact of the dive, Head secured the catch firmly without the ball popping out. Unfortunately, Rohit Sharma, in fine form, fell victim to the catch, departing just when he seemed to be settling in yet again.
Earlier, Australia’s Pat Cummins elected to bowl after winning the toss. India’s Rohit Sharma expressed they would have preferred to bat first. Unchanged lineups were fielded by both teams from their previous matches.
Though Rohit initiated strongly, Shubman Gill, known for his Ahmedabad success, fell early to Mitchell Starc. Soon after, Cummins removed the in-form Shreyas Iyer in consecutive overs.
