Mumbai’s Suryakumar Yadav, back from a sports hernia surgery, rejoined the team’s net practice, displaying his signature shots as he prepared for IPL 2024.
Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav returned to training after recovering from a sports hernia injury, which sidelined him at the start of IPL 2024. He was observed vigorously practicing in the nets ahead of MI’s upcoming fixture against Delhi on April 7.
The top-ranked T20I batsman’s comeback is anticipated to significantly enhance Mumbai’s prospects in the tournament, especially considering their disappointing start, having lost their initial three matches. Despite undergoing surgery for the hernia infection, Yadav showed no signs of discomfort as he flawlessly executed his trademark shots during the practice session.

His return to form is expected to provide a substantial boost to the Mumbai Indians’ campaign after enduring a prolonged absence due to injury.
Suryakumar Yadav’s last competitive appearance was in December 2023 during India’s T20I series in South Africa, where he scored a century despite picking up an ankle injury. Leading India to a series win, Yadav showcased his prowess as a captain.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) had a rocky start to IPL 2024, losing all three initial matches. MI underwent a significant change by appointing all-rounder Hardik as the new captain, replacing Rohit Sharma. However, Pandya faced criticism from fans, being booed during matches against his former team GT and even at MI’s home ground, the Wankhede Stadium, reflecting a challenging start to his captaincy stint.
