Sneh Rana, the all-rounder for the Indian women’s team, secured a stunning diving catch, dismissing Australian skipper Alyssa Healy with a duck in the first over of the run chase.
In the first ODI of the series at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Sneh Rana, a key all-rounder for Team India’s women’s team, showcased brilliance with a diving catch, dismissing Australian skipper Alyssa Healy for a duck. Healy, facing Renuka Singh’s delivery, attempted a drive but ended up with a mistimed shot. The ball flew towards the short third region, and Rana’s exceptional full-length dive to her left secured the catch, granting India a pivotal early wicket after setting a challenging target of 282-8 in the first innings.

What a grab THAT from @SnehRana15 to dismiss Alyssa Healy in the first over🔥🔥#TeamIndia | #INDvAUS | @IDFCFIRSTBank pic.twitter.com/kKtIfA1AHh
In the first innings, Rana’s batting struggled, only managing one run from seven deliveries before Megan Schutt dismissed her in the 38th over, leaving India at 182-7. Scoring 282 runs, it marked India’s highest ODI total against Australia. Recalling a memorable 2022 Women’s World Cup contest, Australia chased down 280 against India, led by Alyssa Healy’s rapid 72 and then-captain Meg Lanning’s impactful 97.
However, with both Healy and Lanning out of the current equation – Lanning having retired before this tour – Australia faces a challenge to replicate their past success. They will now look to other players to step up and contribute significantly if they aim to secure victory in the opening ODI against India.
