During New Zealand’s second World Cup warmup match against South Africa on Monday, October 2, Trent Boult showcased his mimicry skills by imitating his RR captain, Sanju Samson, at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

New Zealand secured a 7-run victory over South Africa in their World Cup warm-up clash, with the win determined by the DLS method. The Kiwis set a target of 321/6 in 50 overs, led by Devon Conway’s impressive 78 runs. Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen took three wickets each for South Africa.

In response, the Proteas scored 211/4 in 37 overs, with Quinton de Kock’s 84 and contributions from Rassie van der Dussen and Heinrich Klaasen. Boult, Santner, and Sodhi each claimed one wicket.

On social media, a hilarious video surfaced, showing the left-arm pacer mimicking Samson by the boundary. The crowd roared with laughter as Boult perfectly imitated Samson’s cap antics and even replicated his airborne shot.

Boult displayed his bowling prowess by claiming a couple of wickets during this warm-up match against South Africa.

The 34-year-old had recently shone with eight wickets in two matches against England, including a five-wicket haul, and added two more wickets in his encounters with Bangladesh.With a strong ODI World Cup history, he took 22 wickets in 2015 and 17 wickets in 2019.

Boult, with extensive IPL experience across various franchises, aims to leverage his skills in familiar Indian conditions.
