The Indian cricket fans got an extra reason to celebrate as Virat Kohli dismissed Netherlands captain Scott Edwards in his second over at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 match on November 12th.
In a dramatic turn of events during the 25th over, Kohli, delivering a subpar ball well past the leg stump, managed to secure a wicket. The crowd’s uproar reflected the astonishment as Scott Edwards, attempting a fine flick, got entangled and feathered the ball. KL Rahul’s quick anticipation came to the fore as he smoothly moved left and snatched a sharp catch. Edwards was visibly disappointed with the unexpected turn of events. This also marked Kohli’s first World Cup wicket.

Anushka Sharma was spotted celebrating enthusiastically as Kohli claimed his first World Cup wicket, dismissing Edwards after he scored just 17 runs. Virat, visibly animated, also reveled in the success.
Earlier, India set an imposing total of 410/4 while batting first, with every batter making noteworthy contributions. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli each scored a half-century, while KL Rahul smashed a record-breaking hundred in just 62 balls, surpassing Rohit’s previous mark. Rahul departed for 102 off 64 balls. Shreyas Iyer showcased brutal batting, remaining unbeaten with a splendid 128 off 94 balls.
