RCB captain Virat Kohli shed tears of joy after his team’s dramatic playoff qualification win over CSK.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a thrilling victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 27 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, booking their place in the IPL 2024 playoffs. Chasing a target of 219 runs, CSK fell short despite a valiant late fightback.
The win was particularly emotional for RCB captain Virat Kohli, who was seen shedding tears after the match. This victory marks a remarkable turnaround for RCB, which climbed from 10th place to playoff qualification within just 15 days. Their recent form has been impressive, winning seven out of their last eight matches. Watch the clip below:
The final over was a nail-biter, with CSK needing 10 runs off two balls to qualify with Ravindra Jadeja on strike. Memories of the 2023 finals, where Jadeja clinched the title for CSK with last-ball heroics, loomed large.
However, this time around, young RCB pacer Yash Dayal held his nerve and secured victory for his team. However, RCB’s bowlers shared the wickets effectively, with Siraj, Maxwell, Ferguson, and Green picking up a wicket each and dismantling CSK’s batting order.
