During the CSK vs RCB IPL 2024 match, Virat Kohli, who scored 21 runs off 20 balls while opening for RCB, delighted fans by dancing to the popular Tamil song “Appadi Podu.”
On the opening day of IPL 2024 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Virat Kohli returned to action as the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings began their title defense with a 6-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Amidst the intense game, a lighthearted moment stole the spotlight during the innings break. Virat Kohli, after his stint at the crease for RCB, showcased his playful side by spontaneously grooving to the beats of the hit Tamil song “Appadi Podu” from the movie Ghilli. The stadium buzzed with excitement as Kohli’s impromptu dance added an extra dash of entertainment to the fans.
Opting to bat first, RCB, led by Faf du Plessis, faced a tough battle after a strong start, but they were rescued by the partnership of Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik, propelling their score to 173/6 in 20 overs. However, the Chennai Super Kings chased down the target with ease, finishing the match in just 18.4 overs.
In his debut match as CSK captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad expressed his enjoyment of the role, citing his prior experience and the support of veteran MS Dhoni. RCB captain Faf du Plessis acknowledged his team’s shortfall of 15-20 runs, attributing their struggle to Chennai’s spinners and a misjudgment of the pitch’s behavior.
Looking ahead, RCB will face Punjab Kings in their next match after a two-day break, while CSK prepares to take on Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, March 26th.
