Babar Azam was spotted translating Rohit Sharma’s reply to Jos Buttler during the Captain’s Day Press Conference.

The ICC World Cup 2023 kicks off at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5th, with the first match featuring the 2019 finalists, England and New Zealand. In the previous season, the winner was determined by the team with the highest count of boundaries, given that the super over concluded with a level score.

Ahead of the World Cup, the ICC organized a Captain’s Day press conference where captains of the participating teams were fired with questions. The Indian captain was questioned about his perspective regarding the decision in the 2019 final, where England was declared the winner based on the count of boundaries.

When questioned about whether England and New Zealand should have been declared joint winners due to the tied super over, Rohit Sharma found the inquiry rather amusing. A smile broke across his face as he considered it an unconventional and somewhat humorous question to pose to him. “Woh Mera Kaam Nahin Hai sir. Woh Ghoshit Karna Hamaara Kaam nahin hai. (it is not my job to decide and announce the winners),” answered Rohit. Hitman’s reply left everyone laughing.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam was seen laughing and translating the conversation to England’s captain Jos Buttler who was sitting beside him as the question was asked in Hindi.

ICC changed the rule after the controversial final. Now if super over ties, subsequent super overs shall be played until the winner is decided.
