A comedy of fielding errors, or more accurately, an epic run-out miss during the Bangladesh vs. Zimbabwe T20 series, went viral on social media.
Bangladesh secured a dominant 4-0 lead in their five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe on Friday, which saw a fielding blunder by the latter that gifted Bangladesh batter Mustafizur Rahman a second chance. The video of the runout went viral on social media and is collecting a lot of laughter.
Disaster struck for Zimbabwe in the final over of Bangladesh’s innings. In the 20th over, a mix-up between Bangladeshi batter Tanvir Islam and Mustafizur resulted in a run-out opportunity. Incredibly, Zimbabwe failed to capitalise twice. First, Blessing Muzarabani missed a direct hit at the striker’s end, and then Johnathan Campbell fumbled the throw at the non-striker’s end, allowing Mustafizur to survive. Watch the video below:
In the match, Shakib Al Hasan’s four-wicket haul (4-35) proved crucial for Bangladesh, helping them recover from a batting collapse after a strong opening partnership. Mustafizur, who later took 3-19 with the ball, played a key role with the bat as well.

Chasing a modest target of 144, Zimbabwe’s start was shaky. They lost their opening batter for a duck in the first over and were soon reeling at 57-4. However, a middle-order fightback by Johnathan Campbell (31) and Ryan Burl (19) kept their hopes alive.
Bangladesh regained control as Mustafizur dismissed Burl and Shakib got rid of Campbell. Wellington Masakadza’s late cameo of 19 runs from just eight balls offered a glimmer of hope for Zimbabwe, but Shakib held his nerve in the final over, dismissing Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava to seal the victory for Bangladesh. The final match of the series is going to be played on May 12th.
