The Women’s Premier League 2024 has disclosed its player retention list, showcasing the players who will continue with their respective franchises, as 60 players remain while 29 have been released.
In preparation for the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL), franchises retained 60 players, which included 21 overseas cricketers, while parting ways with 29 players from their existing squads. Notable names like Annabel Sutherland and Megan Schutt were among those released, although most big stars were retained.
Gujarat Giants, after a challenging debut season, chose to make significant changes by releasing 11 players. In contrast, Delhi Capitals, the runner-up in the inaugural edition, kept their core intact and released the fewest players. Defending champions Mumbai Indians maintained their stability by releasing only four players.
After the first season concluded in March, franchises conducted trials several months ago to finalize their player retention choices, setting the stage for an exciting 2024 WPL.
