In a fairytale debut, Yashasvi Jaiswal announced his arrival on the international stage with a remarkable century against West Indies. The talented youngster, who narrowly missed out on the WTC final, seized the opportunity and dedicated his outstanding performance to his parents.

Accompanied by captain Rohit Sharma, who also notched a century, Jaiswal propelled India past West Indies’ total, granting his team a substantial first-innings advantage.

The duo forged a rock-solid partnership of 229 runs against West Indies, setting a new record for India’s highest opening stand against them. Their performance allowed the team to establish a commanding 162-run lead by the end of play on Thursday.

Reflecting on his maiden Test century on debut, an emotional Jaiswal expressed his gratitude to the Indian team for the opportunity, stating, “I think this is one of the emotional knocks for me… I would like to thank everyone, the supporters, team management, and Rohit Bhai.” Jaiswal also shared his love for Test cricket and his enjoyment of challenging situations.
