Yashasvi Jaiswal appreciated Rohit Sharma’s leadership and game-awareness skills after his record-breaking Test series against England.

Young Indian batting prodigy Yashasvi Jaiswal praised captain Rohit Sharma’s leadership and on-field awareness following their dominant performance in the recently concluded Test series against England.

Jaiswal specifically highlighted the valuable guidance he received from Rohit Sharma during their opening partnerships throughout the series. “He came and told me that in that moment that shot is not on, it will be better to hit straight. So I was trying to hit straight. I must tell you, nothing misses his eyes. He knows everything. That is the biggest quality. He is aware of things and what is going on. (Alag level hai) it’s so fun to be around him.

Jaiswal then went on to commend Rohit’s leadership qualities, particularly his unwavering support for his teammates. “The way he backed players throughout this journey, the way he talks, the way he bats. Whatever happens, he will be there to stand by you. I think it’s incredible to see that in your leader. I will keep learning from him.”

Jaiswal, at just 22 years old, etched his name in the record books by becoming only the second Indian batter after the legendary Sunil Gavaskar to score over 700 runs in a single Test series. He finished the five-match series with a remarkable tally of 712 runs at an impressive average of 89, including two double centuries. His exceptional batting form played an important role in India’s convincing 4-1 series victory, despite a setback in the opening match.

The left-handed batter boasts a remarkable average of over 68 in his nine Test matches so far, with three centuries to his name. Jaiswal will be next seen wearing the Rajasthan Royals jersey in the IPL 2024 campaign. RR’s first match will be against the Lucknow Super Giants on March 24th.
