Yashasvi Jaiswal, following a strong performance in Australia, has confirmed his availability for Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir on January 23. He has reportedly informed Mumbai coach Omkar Salvi of his readiness for the match. The team selection will be finalized in the coming days.

“He has informed Mumbai coach Omkar Salvi that he is available for the next round of the Ranji Trophy. The selection committee will pick the Mumbai team in the coming days,” an MCA official was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

As per BCCI’s directive, centrally contracted players must participate in domestic tournaments when not representing India. This rule ensures key players gain valuable match practice ahead of international campaigns. For Jaiswal and others, these Ranji games offer preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025. While India has had ample Test cricket recently, limited opportunities for white-ball matches remain a concern. The home T20I and ODI series against England, starting later this month, will be their last bilateral fixtures before the Champions Trophy in the UAE.

Rohit Sharma’s Domestic Return Awaits Confirmation

Rohit Sharma is also likely to make his domestic return, as the 37-year-old recently trained at the Wankhede Stadium, though his participation in Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy game remains unconfirmed. However, Sarfaraz Khan is set to miss the match due to a rib injury. The National Cricket Academy will assess his condition, given his BCCI contract.

Following their disappointing series loss to Australia, which ended their chances of making the World Test Championship final for the 2023-25 cycle, several senior players were criticized for their poor form.
