Yashasvi Jaiswal Changes Mind on Goa Move
Yashasvi Jaiswal reversed his decision to join Goa and confirmed his commitment to continue with Mumbai in domestic cricket.
In a major turnaround, 23-year-old India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to continue playing for Mumbai in domestic cricket, withdrawing his earlier request to move to Goa.
Jaiswal had recently asked for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to represent Goa in the upcoming season. Reports suggested he was offered the captaincy role there. However, the youngster has now had a change of heart and informed the MCA of his decision to stay back.
In an email addressed to the MCA, Jaiswal explained the reason behind the move. “I want to withdraw the NOC given to me as my plans to shift to Goa have been curtailed. I request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season. I haven’t submitted the NOC to BCCI and Goa Cricket Association,” he wrote.

Jaiswal clarified that his initial decision was based on his family’s plan to shift to Goa, which has now changed. After making an impressive start to his Test career for India, Jaiswal found Goa’s offer of a leadership role appealing. He had earlier stated that while his main goal was to perform for the national team, he would help Goa in domestic cricket whenever he was available, aiming to contribute to their progress in tournaments.
Jaiswal, who hails from Suriyawan in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, moved to Mumbai at the age of 11 to chase his cricket dreams. His career took off when he scored a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, earning him national recognition and an IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals. Since making his Test debut, Jaiswal has played 19 matches, scoring 1,798 runs at an average of 52.88. His record includes four centuries and ten half-centuries.
