Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif praised Yashasvi Jaiswal’s consistent brilliance across formats, advocating for his ODI debut after an impressive showing against England.
India sealed their victory in the five-match Test series against England, with Yashasvi Jaiswal emerging as a standout performer, earning the Player of the Series award for his remarkable tally of 712 runs in nine innings at an average of 89. Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif commended Jaiswal’s consistent excellence, advocating for his inclusion in ODIs, and emphasizing his versatility across formats.
Kaif highlighted Jaiswal’s prowess in the IPL and domestic cricket, underscoring his adaptability and aggressive batting style. Kaif’s endorsement on the Star Sports program, “Follow the Blues,” further solidified Jaiswal’s credentials as a promising all-format cricketer deserving of wider opportunities.
“The sample size is very small but we have been seeing Jaiswal for many years. We have seen him in the Ranji Trophy and the IPL. He played splendidly in the IPL and he is an incredible player,” Kaif said.
“He has not yet made his ODI debut. Give him an ODI debut as well. He is an all-format player, whether you talk about ODIs, T20s or Tests. As a batter, he has both defensive and attacking techniques, when he makes up his mind and if it is required, he can go from the first to the sixth or seventh gear. Hitting Anderson for three sixes in three balls in a Test match shows how capable a batter he is,” he added.
Kaif also commended Jaiswal for his composure and adaptability against all bowlers, including Anderson. At only 22, Jaiswal’s mastery of his game plan was evident, reflected in his impressive tally of two double centuries and three half-centuries in the series.
