England cricketing legend Michael Vaughan raised questions about RCB’s poor performance and pinpointed the lack of unity as the cause of their failure in the IPL 2024 run.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru is currently positioned at the bottom of the points table, and after six matches, the team has only managed one win, leaving fans thoroughly disappointed. Despite boasting a star-studded lineup the team’s performance has been sub-par. Former England captain Michael Vaughan recently shared his thoughts on the team’s struggles, highlighting the lack of unity as a major concern.
In a recent appearance on YouTube’s ‘The Ranveer Show,’ Vaughan emphasised the importance of teamwork in a sport like cricket. “What I like about the fact that the RCB has never won is that it proves to me that team sports are not just about individuals. You can go and buy all the biggest individual names and put them into a team, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to win, and it’s been proven at the RCB,” said Vaughan, as quoted by NDTV.

Vaughan pointed out that Bengaluru’s struggles persist despite having assembled a team of exceptional players like AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell. “They’ve signed some incredible players. But it tells you unless you get the whole team operating and every single player knowing the roles and identifying different roles and it might be that you have to rejig your team slightly just to allow someone else to flourish in a different position I don’t see the RCB s doing that,” remarked the 49-year-old.
Vaughan went on to say that identifying and assigning clear roles to each player is crucial for Bengaluru’s success. “I don’t see them trying anything different. They just seem to think that because they’ve got great players on this team, they’ll win. It proves to me that even though you’ve got great players, unless you get the team ethic and culture, you’re not going to win trophies,” concluded the former England cricketer.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru’s playoff dreams seem to be fading, and they will now need a miracle streak of consecutive wins to stay alive in the tournament. Faf and Co. will next face SRH on April 15th, in Bangalore.
