On this Day in 1983, Kapil Dev and his men pulled off a historical win against one of the best teams of that time, West Indies. India were labelled to not go through beyond the group stage. But their determination and skill set took them to one of the greatest moments in the history of Indian Cricket.
West Indies won the toss and opted to field first, India put a below par score of 183 runs in 54.4 overs. Chasing 184 West Indies started well, but it was Mohinder Amarnath who gave India the breakthrough and then they were all over West Indies.
The game deciding moment was when Kapil Dev pulled off a good catch to dismiss the legend Viv Richards. In the end, West Indies were bowled out for 140 runs in 52 overs and India won the game by a big margin of 43 runs.
