Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Harshit Rana was fined 100 percent of his match fees and was suspended for one match for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.

Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Harshit Rana has been fined and suspended for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during their match against the Delhi Capitals at Eden Gardens.

Rana received a 100% match fee fine and a one-match suspension for his actions. The BCCI said in a statement, “Rana committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the match referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches, the match referee’s decision is final.” Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct deals with “using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the match.”

This is Rana’s second offence under the same code. Earlier this season, he was fined 60% of his match fees for giving a “flying-kiss send-off” to Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Mayank Agarwal.

In the match against the Delhi Capitals, Rana dismissed Abhishek Porel and appeared to attempt another flying kiss celebration. However, he quickly stopped and gestured towards the dugout instead.

Rana will miss the Kolkata Knight Riders’ next match against the Mumbai Indians, scheduled for Friday, as a result of this suspension. Despite the mishap, KKR secured a comfortable victory over the Delhi Capitals on Monday.

The win was anchored by a stellar bowling performance. Varun Chakaravarthy, named Player of the Match, ripped through the DC batting line-up with a sensational spell of 3-16. Fiery bowling from Harshit Rana and others restricted the Delhi Capitals to a modest total of 153 runs.

KKR’s Phil Salt came up with a strong opening score, and skipper Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer followed through to seal the victory for the team. With the recent win, KKR retains their second spot on the IPL points table, only after the Rajasthan Royals. They will be next facing the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede on May 3rd.
