Delhi Capitals emerged victorious against Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs in a thrilling match in Delhi, with Sanju Samson’s impressive innings of 85 unable to secure a win for RR.

In the IPL match no.56 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Rajasthan Royals faced a fierce onslaught from DC’s Jake Fraser-McGurk after RR captain Sanju Samson chose to field first. Fraser-McGurk’s explosive half-century off just 19 balls propelled DC to a strong start of 78-2 in the powerplay. Despite RR’s initial setbacks, their bowlers fought back, claiming two crucial wickets within the first six overs.

With David Warner absent, DC reshuffled their batting order, promoting Axar Patel after Shai Hope’s unfortunate run-out. Abishek Porel, taking up the opening slot in Warner’s absence, played a rapid innings of 65 runs, while Tristan Stubbs contributed a vital cameo of 41 off 20 balls, guiding DC to a formidable total of 221-8.

Ravichandran Ashwin shined with the ball for Rajasthan, clinching three wickets for 24 runs, while Chahal achieved a milestone by becoming the first Indian bowler to secure 350 T20 wickets at Delhi.

Rajasthan Royals faced an early setback with the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal in their pursuit of 222 runs. While Jos Buttler struggled, Sanju Samson (86) swiftly asserted his aggressive intent, providing the desired Powerplay start. Samson and Riyan Parag tactfully negotiated Delhi’s spinners, maintaining momentum.

Although they conceded more runs initially, Axar and Kuldeep Yadav regained control by bowling dot balls. Even after Rasikh Dar dismissed Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals kept the pressure on Delhi, led by Samson. Rishabh Pant strategically held Kuldeep Yadav back, introducing him in the 17th over, which proved pivotal as Kuldeep’s quick wickets turned the game in Delhi’s favor.
