Sunrisers Hyderabad booked a massive 67-run victory over Delhi Capitals as the latter’s batting order was dismantled by overpowered bowling.

Sunrisers Hyderabad showcased another destructive innings against the Delhi Capitals, as the former came out victorious by a huge margin. Opting to ball first, Rishabh Pant and Co. were unable to chase the mammoth target posted by SRH.

Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a daunting total of 266 runs after DC put them to bat first. Their innings got off to an explosive start, with openers Abhishek Sharma (46 off 12) and Player of the Match Travis Head (89 off 32) putting on a rapid 131-run partnership in just 38 balls. Sharma was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav in the seventh over, but Head continued the carnage before being caught off the same bowler two overs later. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shahbaz Ahmed (59 off 29) steadied the innings and ensured Hyderabad reached a commanding total.

Amongst the DC bowlers, Kuldeep overshone by picking up four wickets for 55 runs, while Mukhesh Kumar and Axar Patel scalped one wicket each.

In reply to Hyderabad’s mammoth total, DC’s chase got off to a disastrous start. Openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner were dismissed early, with Warner scoring a solitary run. However, Jake Fraser-McGurk injected some life into the chase with a quickfire 65 off just 18 balls. Abhishek Porel chipped in with a valiant 42 runs off 22 balls, but his dismissal in the ninth over dented Delhi’s hopes further. Captain Rishabh Pant, coming in at number six, stayed till the end but could not revive the innings.

In the bowling department, SRH showcased a clinical performance. Mayank Markhande, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and others chipped in with wickets, but it was T. Natarajan who stole the show. His exceptional maiden plus wicket over and four-wicket haul for just 19 runs restricted the Delhi Capitals to 199 runs, securing a convincing victory for the team.

With this win, SRH gets promoted to second place on the IPL points table, making itself a very strong contender for the playoffs.
