Avesh Khan’s exceptional yorker skills in the final over propelled Rajasthan Royals to their second consecutive victory, defeating Delhi Capitals by 12 runs.

Rajasthan Royals are establishing their dominance at their home ground in Jaipur this season, a stark contrast to their previous struggles, as they clinched another 13-run victory against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals initially had Rajasthan Royals on the ropes, dismissing key players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, and Sanju Samson within the first eight overs. However, a resilient batting effort led by Ravichandran Ashwin, who smashed three crucial sixes, and Riyan Parag, who anchored the innings with a well-crafted 84, propelled RR to a competitive total of 185. Despite all DC bowlers taking wickets, Axar Patel emerged as the most economical, conceding just 21 runs in his four overs.

Delhi Capitals faced a daunting task in their pursuit of 186 runs after allowing Rajasthan Royals to set a challenging target. Mitchell Marsh initiated the chase aggressively but soon departed, paving the way for David Warner to take charge. Warner, on his 100th Indian T20 League appearance, orchestrated the innings fluently alongside Rishabh Pant. Despite the promising partnership, Delhi lost momentum when Warner fell short of his fifty, followed by Pant’s dismissal.

Tristan Stubbs fought valiantly, but Rajasthan’s Avesh Khan’s impeccable yorkers in the final over made the task insurmountable. Despite Stubbs’ efforts, Delhi fell short, succumbing to Rajasthan’s tight bowling and strategic execution.
