Mustafizur Rahman got a green signal from the cricket board of Bangladesh to extend his IPL run with CSK before he returns to his country for national duties.
Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has received permission from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to extend his stay with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL 2024 season.
Mustafizur was originally scheduled to return to Bangladesh on May 1st to prepare for the national team’s five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. However, the BCB’s Cricket Operations chairman, Jalal Yunus, confirmed that Mustafizur will now be allowed to play in CSK’s match against the Punjab Kings on May 1st before flying back to Dhaka.
“Mustafizur was supposed to return on May 1st, but CSK has a match on that day, and we have allowed him to play the match and then return,” Jalal Yunus, BCB’s cricket operations chairman, explained, as quoted by The Daily Star.
This extension allows Mustafizur to participate in four more IPL matches, potentially boosting his current wicket tally of 10. In his five matches played so far, he has maintained an impressive economy rate of 9.15.
The 28-year-old pacer will rejoin the Bangladesh squad soon after to focus on national team duties. The five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe kicks off on May 3rd in Chattogram. The series will see three matches played in Chattogram (May 3rd, 5th, and 7th), followed by two concluding matches in Dhaka (May 10th and 12th).

Notably, he has also achieved a four-wicket haul in one of his matches. The pace bowler will be next seen wearing CSK’s jersey in the match against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 19th at Ekana Sports City.
