MI coach Kieron Pollard wished to continue with Jasprit Bumrah in their remaining IPL matches despite elimination from playoff contention.
Mumbai Indians will continue with star pacer Jasprit Bumrah in their remaining matches despite being eliminated from IPL playoff contention, according to batting coach Kieron Pollard. Despite many experts opining about his workload management before the World Cup, the Mumbai camp seemed to be stern about their decision to play Bumrah.
“There haven’t been any discussions about resting him,” Pollard told reporters, as quoted by NDTV. When asked about Bumrah’s availability for the final two games Kieron said, “My role isn’t to make that call at this point. We’re all here to compete in the entire IPL. Focusing too far ahead on things like the World Cup can impact performance.”
Pollard emphasised the importance of finishing the IPL season on a strong note before Bumrah joins the Indian national team. “For us and in our camp, the most important thing is finishing off the IPL and let’s see what happens after that. When he leaves the IPL and he goes into the Indian team, I think that’s where that concession will take place,” concluded the coach.

Bumrah is having a stellar IPL season this year, bagging 18 wickets in 12 matches and currently holding the purple cap. He also boasts an astonishing economy rate of 6.21, which is competitively lower than most of the bowlers in the IPL.
Mumbai’s final IPL match is against the Lucknow Super Giants on May 17th. However, Bumrah might not have to worry about workload recovery, as the T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, kicks off on June 2nd.
