Will Jacks and Virat Kohli

RCB effortlessly clinched a nine-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2024 match, chasing down the target of 201 runs to reach 206/1 in just 16 overs.

In the IPL 2024 match between GT and RCB at Ahmedabad, RCB showcased a remarkable display of batting, led by the explosive innings of Will Jacks, who single-handedly dismantled the opposition in a mere two overs. Despite the challenge of chasing 201 runs on a pitch favoring slower bowlers, Bengaluru comfortably achieved the target within 16 overs.

Faf du Plessis (24) provided a solid start during the Powerplay, while Virat Kohli later accelerated with a half-century. However, it was Jack’s phenomenal unbeaten century off just 41 balls that stole the show, forging an unbeaten partnership of 166 runs with Kohli. Jacks’ explosive batting was highlighted by his 29-run onslaught in the 16th over, ending in a century. Kohli’s unbeaten 70 off 44 balls further strengthened Bengaluru’s commanding performance as they clinched a convincing 9-wicket win.

Earlier, RCB captain Faf du Plessis chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Sai Sudharsan (83*) and David Miller (26*) guided GT to a formidable total of 200/3 in 20 overs. RCB opted for spinner Swapnil Singh in the opening over, who promptly dismissed Wriddhiman Saha (5). Glenn Maxwell then accounted for Shubman Gill’s shaky innings of 16 off 19 balls. Mohammed Siraj removed Shahrukh Khan (58), who had also reached a half-century.

While the frontline pacers and Sai Kishore made an initial impact, the middle phase proved disastrous. Noor Ahmad’s form slump and ineffective spells from Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma compounded GT’s woes. The experienced duo of Khan and Sharma faced the wrath of Will Jacks, conceding 29 runs each in a single over. GT now faces an uphill task to bounce back from this disappointing performance.
