Despite being last in the IPL table, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s coach, Andy Flower, expressed confidence in reaching the playoffs.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has declared the team’s unwavering belief in reaching the IPL 2024 playoffs, despite currently sitting at the bottom of the table.
Speaking ahead of their crucial home match against the Gujarat Titans (GT), Flower acknowledged the team’s earlier struggles but emphasised their recent turnaround. “Our playoff hopes are still alive, and that’s a brilliant position to be in. Obviously, we would have liked to be in a much closer position than we are, but the hope and chances are still there. And we are still believing,” Flower said in a video.
RCB has secured back-to-back victories against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and GT, igniting a flicker of hope for their playoff aspirations. Flower commended the team’s bowling attack, praising their aggressive approach in the recent matches. “Our batsmen will definitely be looking forward to batting in the middle. I have noticed that our fast bowling unit has been really attacking in nature, and I would like to see that once again,” he added.
Sharing the spotlight in the video, captain Faf du Plessis expressed his satisfaction with the team’s recent performance. “We are finally playing in a style that we wanted to, and I am happy that we have managed two wins in back-to-back matches,” du Plessis said.
A win against GT would see RCB climb above the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the standings, placing in the eighth position, just below the Punjab Kings. As of the head-to-head stats, GT and RCB stand poised with two wins each in the four matches they have encountered, and both teams will look to seal the win today to get a step closer to the playoffs.
