Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has stirred up the T20 World Cup squad predictions by omitting Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, instead opting for all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Krunal Pandya.
As the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 draws near, fans and cricket pundits worldwide eagerly await the showdown. Among them, former Indian batting legend Sanjay Manjrekar has shared his insights, envisioning his ideal Indian squad for the tournament spanning the USA and West Indies in June.
Confident in India, Manjrekar sees them as strong contenders for the title, crafting a strong lineup. He proposed captain Rohit Sharma alongside rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal as openers, backed by a sturdy middle order featuring Suryakumar Yadav and the dynamic Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.
In his squad, Manjrekar makes some bold choices, including Sanju Samson and KL Rahul alongside Ravindra Jadeja, omitting Hardik Pandya due to a challenging IPL season. With Ravindra Jadeja as the sole all-rounder, the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal also secures spots.
Leading the pace attack is Jasprit Bumrah, supported by Mohammed Siraj, Avesh Khan, and promising uncapped talents Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav. As a backup spinner, Manjrekar includes Krunal Pandya, despite his last international appearance dating back to 2021 in Sri Lanka.

Former India captain Virat Kohli has been showcasing decent form in the ongoing IPL 2024, currently leading the run charts with 430 runs in 9 matches, including a century and 3 fifties. However, his strike rate has sparked discussions, notably in RCB’s recent match against Sunrisers, where his scoring slowed down after a brisk start.
Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, in the commentary box, emphasized Kohli’s need to take more chances and attempt big shots, urging him to break free from his cautious approach and inject momentum into his innings.
