Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has expressed his strong belief in wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson’s preparedness for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.

Kaif, in his endorsement, emphasized Samson’s remarkable performance and cited reasons for favoring him over Ishan Kishan and Axar Patel. With Kaif’s stamp of approval, Samson’s path to the World Cup gains momentum, as cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the tournament scheduled for October-November.

“I am very, very impressed with Sanju Samson. The way he played the last game was impactful and he has done that in the past as well whether at four or five,” remarked Mohammad Kaif during the launch of Amrit Mathur’s latest book ‘Pitchside’ in New Delhi.

The former Indian batsman also expressed reservations about the idea of sending Ishan Kishan or Axar Patel at number four, emphasizing the need for a player who can handle both left-arm spin and leg spin.

“Sending Ishan or probably Axar at number four isn’t really a good idea. You need a batter who can play left-arm spin as well as leg spin and Sanju Samson has that kind of ability,” Kaif added.
