Shah Rukh Khan sneaking up on Sourav Ganguly for a hug was captured in a video that is now doing the rounds on social media.
The Eden Gardens on Monday night witnessed a warm moment as Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), embraced legendary cricketer Sourav Ganguly.
Ganguly, who played a pivotal role for KKR as captain and player earlier in his career, was present at the stadium in his current capacity as Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals (DC). The two teams were facing off in an IPL 2024 match.
Following the match, a video of the two stars’ reunion went viral on social media. The clip shows Khan spotting Ganguly while chatting with KKR all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer during the customary post-match lap of honour. Khan then surprised Ganguly by sneaking up behind him and embracing him with a warm hug, followed by a brief conversation. Watch the video below:
KKR fans had more to celebrate than just the reunion, as their team dominated the Delhi Capitals in all aspects of the game, securing a convincing seven-wicket victory. Chasing DC’s modest total of 154 runs, KKR opener Phil Salt provided a solid foundation, leading their team to victory.

With the latest win, KKR gets one step closer to cementing their spot in the playoffs. However, Ganguly’s DC has much to worry about. With only three matches remaining in the IPL season, Rishabh Pant’s team needs a clean sweep to even have a chance at reaching the playoffs.
