South Africa revealed their 15-man squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on April 30th, with Aiden Markram chosen as captain for his first ICC event leadership role. Anrich Nortje, who returns after a nine-month absence, will strengthen the team’s bowling attack following his IPL stint. Joining him are debutants Ryan Rickelton, a top-order batter, and Ottniel Baartman, a pace bowler, both impressing in the SA20 tournament.
The squad features a strong pace attack, led by Nortje, Baartman, Rabada, and Coetzee, with Ngidi and Burger as traveling reserves. The spin department includes Maharaj, Fortuin, and Shamsi.
The Proteas have a solid batting lineup featuring Markram, De Kock, Hendricks, Klaasen, Miller, and rising star Tristan Stubbs. Faf du Plessis missed out on a comeback opportunity, while top performers Rassie van der Dussen and Matthew Breetzke didn’t make the cut.
