In the IPL 2024 match, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head swiftly chased down 166 runs in just 9.4 overs, securing a commanding 10-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants.

Lucknow Super Giants’ opener Quinton de Kock faced a disappointing comeback, getting out for just 2 runs, after KL Rahul elected to bat in the 57th match of the 2024 Indian Premier League at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, continuing his strong form in the powerplay, dismissed both De Kock and Marcus Stoinis (3) within the initial four overs, leading to Lucknow Super Giants posting their third-lowest powerplay score against hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Following a batting collapse, Ayush Badoni played a superb innings of 55 runs off 30 balls, partnering with Nicholas Pooran, who also contributed 48 runs unbeaten, to revive the LSG innings. Their partnership of 99 runs became the third-highest for LSG in IPL 2024, taking Lucknow to set a competitive target of 166 runs for Hyderabad.

Lucknow started well with their first over but struggled afterward as the batters capitalized on every opportunity. They faltered in the field, missing some chances which could have made a difference. Surprisingly, KL Rahul didn’t utilize the impact player option.

Despite the bowlers’ efforts, the SRH opening batters, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, dominated, wrapping up the game in just 9.4 overs. It was the quickest chase in Indian T20 League history, with the highest score achieved in under 10 overs.
