In a remarkable display of batting, Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious over RCB by 25 runs in what is now officially the highest-scoring T20 match ever, with a staggering total of 549 runs scored.

Earlier, RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first, but Sunrisers Hyderabad unleashed a relentless batting onslaught, amassing a total of 287/3 in 20 overs, setting a new IPL record with 22 sixes and 19 boundaries.

Right from the start, Hyderabad’s aggressive approach was evident as the left-handed opening pair wasted no time in attacking the RCB bowlers. Travis Head led the charge with a blistering 102 off 41 balls, supported by Abhishek Sharma’s brisk 34. Heinrich Klaasen and Abdul Samad further intensified the assault, with quickfire contributions, before Aiden Markram’s late surge propelled Hyderabad beyond the 277-run mark, previously set by the team. This dominant performance set the stage for a challenging chase of 287 for RCB.

Bengaluru’s struggles persist as they suffered their sixth defeat in seven games, languishing at the bottom of the table due to their lackluster bowling performance. Despite a valiant effort from the batters, chasing 288 runs in 120 deliveries seemed daunting.

Both Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis started strongly, with a flurry of boundaries, but Kohli’s departure in the thirties halted their momentum. Faf continued aggressively, reaching 62, but subsequent batters failed to make significant contributions. Dinesh Karthik’s heroic 83 off 35 balls kept Bengaluru’s hopes alive momentarily, but his dismissal in the 19th over dashed their chances. Despite Anuj Rawat’s brief cameo in the final over, Bengaluru fell 25 runs short of a crucial victory.
