In the IPL 2024 match between SRH and MI, SRH achieved a historic milestone, posting their highest-ever IPL total of 277/3 and securing a 31-run victory.

In the first innings, SunRisers Hyderabad’s batting lineup saw a change as Travis Head joined Mayank Agarwal at the start. Head wasted no time, hitting boundaries aggressively against Maphaka. He continued his attacking play, while Agarwal provided support before getting out. Head, undeterred, kept scoring boundaries, helping Hyderabad reach 81 runs in the first six overs.

Abhishek Sharma joined him, hitting sixes right away, and Hyderabad reached 100 runs in just seven overs. Head smashed a fifty in just 16 balls, breaking Hyderabad’s record shortly after. After Head and Sharma departed with solid scores in the 60s, Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen took over, adding more runs. Klaasen also reached a thunderous fifty, along with Markram’s supportive 42, leading to Hyderabad’s highest-ever total of 277 runs.

Mumbai faced an uphill battle chasing SunRisers Hyderabad’s mammoth total, but they showed resilience. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan’s quick starts set the stage, followed by Tilak Varma’s solid partnership with Naman Dhir. Despite Varma’s fifty, Mumbai struggled as boundaries dried up. Tim David and Hardik Pandya tried to revive the innings, but the target was too daunting.

Hyderabad’s bowling initially faltered, allowing Mumbai’s openers to flourish. However, strategic breaks and disciplined bowling, led by Pat Cummins, Jaydev Unadkat, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, turned the tide. They stifled Mumbai’s momentum, securing Hyderabad’s first win of the season.
