Virat Kohli was furious after being dismissed during the KKR vs RCB IPL 2024 match when a full toss from Harshit Rana was deemed legal by the review.
In the ongoing match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens, Virat Kohli found himself at the center of a controversial dismissal. Kohli, having settled into his rhythm while chasing a massive 223-run target, fell victim to a caught and bowled by Harshit Rana.
The delivery from Rana caught Kohli off guard, resulting in a mistimed shot that was easily caught by the bowler. Despite Kohli’s protestations, video replays confirmed the legitimacy of his dismissal, showing he was outside the crease when the ball was delivered and it was dipping.
This setback left Kohli fuming, leading to a confrontation with the umpire, further fueled by RCB captain Faf du Plessis joining in.
Kohli’s departure for a brisk 18 off seven balls, featuring two powerful sixes, has dealt a blow to RCB’s chase. As the former skipper made his way back to the dugout, his frustration boiled over, resulting in him forcefully smacking a nearby dustbin and bat in a display of visible anger.
Earlier, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to field against KKR. RCB tweaked their lineup, bringing back Mohammed Siraj, Cameron Green, and Karan Sharma.
For KKR, Shreyas Iyer led the charge with a fifty, while Phil Salt and Ramandeep Singh added quick runs, guiding KKR to 222/6. Despite losing wickets regularly, KKR’s deep batting order kept the scoreboard ticking. Cameron Green starred with the ball for RCB, taking 2 wickets for just 35 runs.
