The World Test Championship 2023 final kicked off on June 7, 2023. India won the toss and elected to field first. Australia posted a mammoth total of 469 in the first innings. In reply India were in big trouble at the end of Day 2 at 151/5.

Ajinkya Rahane reached his fifty with a brilliant six over fine leg against Pat Cummins. He has been absolutely determined to take India to a respectable total.
Rahane was not initially in the part of the squad, he came in as a replacement for KL Rahul who got injured while playing in IPL 2023.
