India’s Ireland series captain Jasprit Bumrah showcased his peak form during net sessions, leaving batsmen awestruck with his unplayable bouncers and yorkers ahead of the 3-match T20I series.

Battling a recurring back injury, Jasprit Bumrah remained sidelined for an extended period. His troubles started in the summer of 2022, causing him to miss the Asia Cup. Rushed back for the World T20, he exacerbated the injury against Australia.

This led to his absence from major events like the 2022 T20 World Cup and the entire IPL 2023. To address this, Bumrah underwent a successful back surgery in Christchurch, followed by intense rehab at India’s NCA, gradually progressing toward full recovery by bowling seven overs daily.

On August 16, India’s captain and fast bowler for the Ireland series unleashed some explosive deliveries during the team’s maiden practice session in Ireland. The Board of Control for Cricket in India shared a clip from the session, capturing Bumrah delivering fiery balls to the emerging Indian batsmen.

Jasprit Bumrah’s absence resonated strongly within the Indian cricket team, spanning almost a year and causing him to miss the entirety of India’s home season prior to the World Test Championship Final. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled Bumrah’s comeback as he was chosen to lead the Indian side in a T20 series against Ireland, set to occur from August 18 to 23. This marks his maiden experience as a captain in white-ball cricket, intensifying his return with added responsibility.
