The second Ashes Test started on June 28, 2023. England won the toss and elected to bowl first. England made one change as injured Moeen Ali was replaced by Josh Tongue while Australia brought back Mitchell Starc in place of Scott Boland.
Travis Head played an outstanding knock of 77(73). He scored 14 boundaries in his excellent knock of 77. He was looking in great touch and eyeing for a century but Joe Root deceived him with a wide ball, Travis head looking to take it out of the ground missed the ball and Jonny Bairstow did the rest behind the stumps.
After Travis Head’s departure, next man was Cameron Green. Two dot balls and Green tried to take on Root in the third ball, but he mis-timed the shot and the ball went straight to mid-off to the hands of James Anderson.
Australia were dominating the game but Joe Root’s one over changed the game towards England.
